Its the end of July as we know it
Posted 2002-07-31 04:07:34 AM
Okay so I ended up the month of July only missing one day; which wasn't my fault! Still I had enough posts for the whole month (31) just happened to miss the second to last day completely.
Anyways, this article says that women are the more violent ones in relationships while this comic only enhances that point.
And finally, a worst ones to Jimmy Fallon, who got to jump Natalie Portman's bones in the MTV Video Music Award commercial.

You guys consumed all my bandwidth for July! Because of that I will not be able to have an entry up for everyday for the month of July :( I was close though..
So yesterday I went to Al Capps off of Orangethorpe and Harbor to listen to a band called TwoYearsLater. My sister knew some of the guys in the band b/c they were in the same class in high school. So I went there to go listen to them. It was one of those things where five or so bands played a couple of songs. Most of the bands played either really fast or loud or both and none of them were particularlly impressive. TwoYearsLater sounded much better than the other bands, probably b/c they had more time to practice and stuff... Yeah so thats what I did yesterday.
Oh yeah and my Uncle/Aunt and their two little kids went back home yesterday. I'm gonna miss those tykes *sniff* :(

WARCRAFT 3!!!
I just played a couple of rounds of 2v1 against the computer w/ Andrew. We initially had some trouble but eventually destroyed the computer. Whats lame is that they made the computers really hard in WC3 so you have to play almost perfectly to beat them 1 on 1 which is why we chose to go 2v1 instead of 2v2.
FUN!
Also I've been drinking a lot of the 59c boba that they have down at the Quickly's in Rowland Heights. The Tapioca Boba Tea, Green Apple Slush and Strawberry Slush are all 59 cents for the month so I've been gulping those down. MmMMm good :) So like six of these drinks only cost me like three dollars plus change.

Austin Powers: Goldmember
Posted 2002-07-26 09:04:17 PM
So a bunch of us went to go see the new Austin Powers flick at Fullerton AMC. Let me just say that this movie did not let me down like MIB 2 did. Non-stop jokes and non-stop action. Definitely worth the money I paid.So afterwards I had to head out to a wedding reception for my Aunt's sister's son's wedding at Life Plaza. They reserved half of Ruby Restaurant for the occasion. All I have to say about that is that people like to get drunk at these things and you can totally tell who can handle their liquor and who can't.
The Story Is Wrong!

My sister seems to have a knack for messing up my stuff.
My version of AIM had been kept at 4.7.x.x because I had made changes to what AIM looked like and had stopped AIM from sending to their advertisement server (even if you use something such as AIM+, AIM still sends requests to the server, you just dont see it). I also didn't upgrade to 4.8 because it was fux0ring up on a lot of things. For example, randomly popping a message that said I was disconnected from the AIM Alert server when I never even had an alert on! Plus 4.8 randomly disconnects me as well so I had no need to upgrade.
A couple of weeks ago after I came back from somewhere, I sit down to my computer and load up AIM...
Wait a minute... my cusom startup logo isn't there anymore! :(
Wait a minute... why am I also getting lame ads?! :(
Wait a minute... who has been eating all my porridge!! :(
It turns out that my sister went to sign herself onto AIM, that nag screen that alerts you once a week to upgrade came up and instead of thinking about what to do she clicked "YES" and automatically upgraded to 4.8 and wiping out all the changes I had made to AIM.
Okay so anyways this wouldn't have been a big deal other than for that night except tonight when she came back home for the weekend. The first thing she did was to come over to my computer where I was sitting playing WC3. She saw some pictures that I had lying around from Homecoming/Prom and she picks them up and flips through them... Only she messes up all my pictures!!#@!$!@
When it comes to pictures, I'm pretty picky about their ordering (Whatever, it's my body, I'll do what I want). So I like them in the order that they were taken. So when she does this she draws my ire because I had the Prom pictures flipped the other way from the Homecoming pictures to distinguish them but now they are all facing each other and out of order (and still are!).
Big Sis Reasoning: I thought you were being lazy.
Lil Bro Reasoning: Yes I had a row of pictures flipped over for only the purpose of being lazy.
Oi.

I've been playing a lot of No One Lives Forever. It was this game released by LithTech to show off their LithTech Engine 2.5 that they license out to other companies. Basically you are a female spy named Cate Archer who works for this secret British intelligence agency called U.N.I.T.Y. and you're trying to stop H.A.R.M. from doing bad things.. The graphics in this are especially well done and the game is extremely polished. Although there is one flaw with the game. The enemies seem to notice me only after I stare them in the face with my pistol. Once they actually do see me and get the shit scared out of them they actually start firing back. They actually try to avoid your bullets and try to look for cover. A lot of the game is based on being really sneaky but I said screw that and went in guns blasting. Either way works, which is another big plus with the game (well also sneaking around is really slow and kinda hard to do without the guards sounding alarms).
Yeah so it is a pretty good game. I can't wait for NOLF 2, that looks like its going to be awesome.

LAN Party Post Wrap-up
Posted 2002-07-22 02:43:54 AM
So I get there on Friday at around 1:00 to setup my computer. I load all my junk into my car, drive onto the 91 E then 71N to get to Chino. Man Chino = Boonie Town except for the fact that the 71 is right next to where Gary lives.
Anyways so I arrive and setup my computer in the garage. I start surfing the Internet and went to go download the patch for Counter-strike only to have that patch ruin the game somehow so I had to go back and do a fresh install and then upgrade again before I could finally play Counter-strike. We have KFC for dinner but not everyone gets enough food. We play pretty late before we all goto sleep.
On Saturday, same thing only this time we have the whole day. We play till lunch, which basically was the Korean BBQ that we were going to eat for dinner. Robocop 2 was on. This was the one where like Robocop gets destroyed but they put him back together only to get this really lame robocop but then robocop gets back control of his body and does what he wants and starts killing the bad people.
I stayed there until about 3 before I drove home because it was my sister's b-day and the family was going to goto Chili's to eat. I got some Marinara Chicken or something. It was pretty good except there wasn't much of it. So after I ate with my family I drove back to the LAN Party. By the time I had come back they had just started to eat dinner (the Korean BBQ) and watch Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me that they were playing on TBS. Most of the people watched the movie while others went on for more CS action. After the movie was over. A lot of us joined up on LAN to play cs_militia and other maps. Later that nite we go play basketball in the complete dark and with puddles on the court and then somehow make our way back to the house before going to Denny's. Jimmy and I split smothered cheese fries w/ bacon which was $6. What a complete ripoff! There was hardly any bacon in that crappy ass thing.
So after we got back we played more CS (This time a lot of fy_iceworld) before heading off to bed for the night. We basically went to sleep when the sun had just started to rise. :P
So the next day, I'm the second one to wake up so I basically go and browse the internet and wait for everyone else to wake up before playing... more CS!!! (You see a reoccuring pattern of us playing CS; well basically because no one other than Jin and I wanted to play Warcraft III. Those guys were so lame, they fear my WC3 sk1llz!!!) We headed to Carls Jr. for lunch came back played some more... CS and then we packed up at around 4:30 or so because Nammy was taking the cable router that fed everyone to the DSL line. So we cleaned up got out and left for our homes.
Those in attendance (In no order other than recollection from memory, if forgotten off this list, please refresh my noggin):
Jimmy, Don, Josh, Erik, Damien Chow, Tejas, James, Andrew, Nammy, Ken, Phil K, Phil D., Jin (Gary's friend from UCR), Gary, Derek, Moses, Saunders, Malcolm, Victor, Roger, Albert, Michelle, Amy, Bryan's sister (Christine? Kristine?), Eliot, and Chris (Derek's cousin)
Funny things said at LAN Party
Gary & Nammy: Shut down everything guys, according to our calculations we're going to go over $5000 worth in electricity usage.
Don: Must have gotten laid.
Don (in an IM): I WILL HIT YOU IN 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. *Goes to lunge over to hit me*
Various people: "And always twirling twirling twirling towards freedom"
Various people: Whatever, it's my body, I'll do what I want
Various people (after getting killed in CS): *AUUUGGGHHH!!!!!*
Final Note: someone stole James' WC3 CD and Don's Photons. Please return those items back to their respectful owners. It's pretty low to have someone steal from friends so give them back, ahora!

Crouch Tiger! I sense a Hidden Dragon
Posted 2002-07-15 01:12:46 AM
We all know Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a great movie, but my first experience watching it in the movie theaters was terrible. People in the audience couldn't seem to comprehend the fact that these people could tread lightly on water/trees/etc. I doubt any of them laughed while they were watching The Matrix but for some reason they couldn't hold their suspension of disbelief while watching it. Thus, my first experience was ruined by these people. I could not understand what was so funny about all of it. We had all seen the Matrix before but I never heard anyone laughing in the movie theaters about how ridiculous jumping tall buildings in a single-bound was. Yet climbing on some bamboo trees and fighting is something funny? Or when they walk over the water?
You know why they found it funny? 'Cause the characters on there were Asian, and god forbid that Asians could have the ability to be the good guys or *gasp* have the ability to do Kung-Fu. I bet now that most of them think the movie is "cool" because of all the acclaim that it garnered worldwide.

So yesterday I met up with Pranav, Don, Andrew and Amy at Cyberworld. Amy was some girl that they knew from Esperanza who also went to Travis apparently. So after Cyberworld, we hung out at the In'N'Out and talked for quite a while before deciding to goto Camelot to play some arcades. Funniest thing that happened was when Pranav and Amy played Street Fighter Vs Capcom 2 and basically decided to button mash. Pranav and Amy would alternate between swinging the joystick back and forth and hitting all the attack buttons in no particular order. They must have been doing something right because they got all the way to the very final final final boss. They lost basically because the last guy was completely invulnerable.
And then today Tejas suggested... Cyberworld! So Tejas, James, Don, Jimmy and I all went down there to play. We played for an hour and a half before going to... In'N'Out...
Let me just stop by saying, I had gone to In'N'Out yesterday at night, had In'N'Out for lunch today and then now I had to go to In'N'Out for a third straight time! :(( I am getting pretty sick of In'N'Out which I know is blasphemy but still going there for three straight meals gets tiring. Well I didn't really eat food during two of those trips but its the same deal.
Yeah so afterwards I guess we were suppose to watch a movie but that didn't work out. Oh yeah I guess the guys weren't up on the clubbing idea so none of us went. :/

"Darkness called... But I was on the phone, so I missed it. I tried to star-69 Darkness, but his machine picked up. I yelled 'PICK UP THE PHONE, DARKNESS!', but he ignored me. Darkness must have been screening his calls." - Demon Hunter
"Darkness! Hey, what's up? The Demon Hunter left you a message? No I don't have his number." - Dreadlord
WC3 Collectors Edition
Posted 2002-07-11 01:18:58 AM
It sucks! Jimmy and I went over to James' house to go watch the DVD cause I thought it would have all these like "Creating the Game" type movies or something really awesome on there. Basically that whole DVD package thing was just a rehash off all the cinematics and trailers released for WC3 and their previous games. The only cool movies they had were the ones for World Of Warcraft that showed them playing the game. The artbook was pretty good except the DVD had the same pictures inside the book! How lame, they were just trying to fill it up with miscellaneous stuff so they could use a DVD instead of a CD. Yeah well anyways I guess the artbook was pretty good but not worth the price of the collectors edition. :// Anyways, DVD was not up to Blizzard hardcore quality.
Oh yeah 7-11 was giving away free slurpees but they were giving them out in those really small cups. The only reason I went to 7-11 was cause there was one just outside my house (really!). If that store wasn't there and I knew that the cup would be that small, I wouldn't have gone.
Oh yeah I had some Boba earlier in the afternoon and I was full from eating dinner; my aunt comes back with 4 cups of it!!! Sheesh! I never thought that there would be a time when there way too much boba :P

Stuff to read
Posted 2002-07-08 01:02:23 PM
Janis Ian, a musician that started her career in the late 60's has an article about "The Internet Debacle." It's a good read about how the commercial music industry is worrying more about themselves and not about their artists. Also talks about how music downloads are not hurting the artists. This is a good read in case you find Courtney Love's article too long or you just hate her :/
The Janis Ian makes a lot of good points about how the recording industry screws the musician by putting them into long term contracts and basically forcing the musician to pay severly if their record does not do well. Even if a musician has done well, the record company still owns all their material. Just look at Weezer. Even though they recorded their last record, Maladroit with their own money, they still had to give up the masters to their record company, Interscope when they asked for them.

I have many people on my buddy list that I never ever talk to. For the most part it is because they don't have my screenname but I have theirs. Creepy right? :P
There have been certain people I've been meaning ot talk to online but I can't really think of anything to say. You'd think it's easier to talk to someone online but I'm terrible at thinking of things to say when you don't know the other person too well. I mean if I knew a person really well then it's a piece of cake. But if it's just an acquaintance I have a hard time thinking of stuff to say. It's gotten to a point where I kind of say hi and try to get out of talking to them or I just try to avoid any confrontation altogether. I'm trying to improve myself so it gets to a point where I actually go up to people instead of ignoring them.
Oh yeah, site slow for reasons beyond my knowledge. Hopefully it'll be better later on

So I went to see MiB2 with my siblings (sisters and cousin) and I just plain did not like it. Maybe it was just the audience I went to see it with who also did not find it funny but I wasn't really laughing at all throughout the film. A lot of the jokes involved long sporadic pauses where the people watching the movie are suppose to laugh really hard 'cause the situation is comical. Don't see it unless you want to watch nothing for 2 hours.
After that my family went to BJ's near Brea Mall to eat dinner. The food was so-so and wasn't worth the money we spent on it. Then we went to Borders and I say Jason Ng and his girlfriend there.
Speaking of which, I had gone with my sister to Borders on Friday 'cause she wanted a book. We get there and there are these three guys in the computer section arguing about stupid computer stuff. It was so lame, so typical geeked-out computer dorks who think they're better than everyone else because they can argue the merits of some obscure programming language that no one really cares about. The real problem wasn't that though, the problem was that they refused to shutup about it. Several times people came up to them and told them to shut the hell up but they refused. The funniest comment they made (funny in the sense that it was so stupid) was when they said that the store wasn't a "library" and that people were "reading" books so that some how made it okay for them to be loud. Just because its a bookstore doesn't mean you can be an ass to everyone around you and talk incredibly loud.
So anyways talked to Jason for a bit, then read some magazines, then went home and ate cake.
And that's my day.
Thanks to everyone who said Happy Birthday to me. I know I didn't bother mentioning it too much but I have my reasons. I don't think I would've had anytime to do anything because the movie and the dinner took up so much time.

I was going to post about my ideal woman, but then I realized what would be the point. I'm going to be single forever :/
Ah yes, I can imagine it. Years from now. Me, bald, fat and not doing a single thing.
Fourth Of July

If I had an icon of an America flag waving it'd be here.
More updates on me doing nothing on the 4th of July as the day progresses
Update: Went with family to beach. Got wet so I had to take the pants off! (At home of course :)) Then afterwards we went to Rowland Heights to go eat Dinner.
I also began listening to some of the new Weezer demos that they had up for only 5 minutes or so on Tuesday. They released 23 demos on that day but only had them up for a short period. A lot of the songs sound completely different from Maladroit. Especially "Lullaby" which sounds a LOT like Pedro The Lion.
That's about it.

My oldest sister is in for the holiday weekend.
My aunt has also come to visit for the summer. She's brought her two other children. They are cute and noisy. I hope cute prevails over noisy this time though.
I'm trying to do like one post a day this month. I'm not sure if It'll last

ITS GETTING HOT IN HERRE
Posted 2002-07-02 01:55:36 AM
So while we were all assembling at Andrew's house for the bonfire last Saturday, we decided to watch some MTV. It just happen to be some top 10 show that had the 10 sexiest rap videos ever. Some of them I guess were pretty sexy and all but only a few videos were worthy of being sent into my retina and brought to a focus point by the cornea and lens. So anyways Nelly was hosting the show and guess what, it just so happens that his video was #1 on the countdown too. What a big surprise. So like the song was "Hot In Herre"...
So my rating for this video:
+1 Nice looking girls
-1 Spellingherre here wrong.
-1 Lame attempt at hilarity in the middle of the video. Hilarity does not ensue.
And finally Nelly: STOP WEARING THAT FUCKING BANDAID ON YOUR FACE. It does not make you look cool having that little strip of white tape attached to your face. Just take off the tape, no one is buying into it and god forbid if it becomes some fashion style within the next year. All your better songs came while you weren't wearing that stupid thing so the best choice of logic is to rip that thing off your face while your career still exists.
I was like, good gracious ass bodaciousNow keep in mind you can't understand any of these lyrics really because in the video they really want you to focus on the hot girls that surround Nelly and how they're shedding their clothes ever so slowly. The reason? The hook of the song of course.
Flirtatcious, tryin to show faces
Lookin for the right time to shoot my steam (you know)
Lookin for the right time to flash them G's
Then um I'm leavin, please believin
Me and the rest of my heathens
Check it, got it locked at the top of the four seasons
Penthouse, roof top, birds I feedin
No deceivin, nothin up my sleeve, no teasin
I need you to get up up on the dance floor
Give that man what he askin for
Cuz I feel like bustin loose and I feel like touchin you
And cant nobody stop the juice so baby tell me whats the use
(I said)Obviously everyone has to take off all their clothes cause Nelly is in herre and shit so like if you don't take them off Nelly will be very upset so just take off all your clothes.
Its gettin hot in here (so hot)
So take off all your clothes
