End Of Summer
| UCI, Troy, Movies, Summer
UCI started on Friday which meant that Summer has officialy ended. For Dinner on Thursday I went with Erik and Steve to Pat and Oscar's. We reminisced about the good ol dorm days... which weren't really that good 'ol for me except for a couple of great moments. After we ate I went with Sam to go watch Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence. God what a beautiful movie but tries way too much "trying to be smart and quote philosophers" and not enough action sequences. But very visually stunning and a decent flick.

Friday. All my classes went okay, I'm dropping 183 Graphics Programming because the professor is crazy. She wants the class to complete 4 programs, 4 written assignments, a written final and project final. On top of that she wants us to learn OpenGL on our own time. Since I don't really need that class to graduate I'm just going to drop it.

Friday was also Staceys birthday party at the Old Spaghetti Factory. There were lots of people there and I'm surprised that they actually managed to fit everyone in.

Saturday. Went to Don's house to watch the USC vs. Stanford game. Stanford was winning at half time and Don, the only person who went to USC out of Pranav, him and I, almost gave up all hope of USC winning. But they ended up stopping Stanford's offense in the 2nd half and they won the game. So afterwards we chided Don for not having more faith in his own school. I guess it's easy being so calm since UCI's football team is undefeated and all but Don had nothing to worry about. Later that night we played Poker with a 1 dollar buy in. I thought I played well until I played a big hand not realizing I didn't have a straight when I thought I did. So next time I'll win for sure...

Well that's it. Tomorrow's Monday and the official "First Week" of class. I guess we'll see what happens.

With nothing to write about.

I ate with Mike Chen and I helped my parents move to a bigger place for their business on Saturday.

That about sums it up. I think I'm going to that Indian Casino in Pechunga tomorrow. If you don't hear from me it means that I won enough money for a new life.

Whatever stays in Vegas...
| Troy, Summer
Friday I drove up to Las Vegas with some of my old high school friends and other related. James, Victor, Pranav, Malcolm, Jon, Amy and Amy's sister Jessica and I stayed until Sunday morning at the Imperial. All I can say was that it was a blast. Chatting on the drive up, seeing what probably amounts to the hottest asian call girl ever, losing $25 on the first night to stupid slots , watching the olympics and whatever Arnold movie was on, random elevator occurences ("That girl was 'HOT'" and "We ain't letting anyone else on this elevator, it's full... Oh hey ladies there's plenty of room ), walking to and fro from McDonalds and having a Mexican lady in a shirt that said "Stripper" try and give you stripper-style baseball cards and whatnot.

Oh yeah. and also winning $215 from $40 playing blackjack . Because of that my trip up there was basically free + I bought some clothes at the outlet on the border.

Had dinner tonight with some old high school buddies at Olive Garden. Family Guy references abound, Erik's constant need for another Diet Coke, me secretly trying to catch up by drinking Rasberry Lemonades.

The waitress had 'the hair' going. For various reasons this type of hair will now be referred to as 'the hair'. By 'the hair' I mean hair that is cut short and waxed to rise outward from the head. That is just hot. Unfortunately this girl had white/black combo that kind of detracted from it.

Anyways, Erik pointed that out to me since he was with me when I decided that 'the hair' was it. We were eating at CPKs at the Brea Mall and our waitress had the hair thing going for her. As a bonus she had blonde hair which was pretty cool but it would be way hotter if an Asian girl wore her hair like that and then dyed her hair blonde. That'd be hot.

So why the lack of updating? I guess for the most part it is because of my job. My job is taking up a lot of my time now. I am actually looking forward to school so I don't have to be working crazy hours like this.

I DOMINATE SKEE BALL
| Summer
I went to the OC Fair last Friday with TL and Erik, we went right after Erik and I got off work and drove to South Coast to meet up. When we got to the Fair it was still pretty light out. We bought something like 34 tickets but it only ended up in us riding a few rides. I went on one called Kamikaze and another one where they spun you around... What is that called I can't remember.

Anyways so the best part of the night was me winning at Skee Ball again . Two years at the OC Fair, Two years of winning at Skee Ball.

I am so fucking buzzed right now
| Troy, Summer, Party
I just want to thank everyone who came to my little party tonight. I'm really drunk right now so yeah I'm drunk.

Thank you Christine, Jiner, Pranav, Mark, Erik and Asuka for taking me two the two places. That first one at Diamond Plaza and Banana Bay. I'm so freaking buzzed right now.

Anyways. Thank you everyone else who came, Erik, Pranav, Mark, Asuka, Akash, Frances, Christina, Andrew, Don, Christine, Jen Law (yea! the only one from CA), Jiner and whoever else I'll remember in the morning. Wow. I had too many drinks to write coherently. I had what they called a 3 wise men (double shot) and a stop light. I also had a liquid cocaine so as I'm writing this I am freaking buzzed. Okay more tomorrow when I get sober.

| Summer, Humor
So much has been going through my mind. At first I thought I was just stressed about the ICS 171 midterm I took today but when it was over there was still this feeling of gloom, that I am not happy.

When I got home I kinda moped around the house for a couple of hours. I watched some Daria as usual but it was one that I had not yet seen! But still there is just this certain lack of certainty about why I'm sad.

I decided I wanted an egg roll. Being the master chef that I am, I went into our garage to get one of those microwavable ones from our back freezer. When I looked through there were none :(

I looked around but all I could see were pizzas, pot pies and those rib sandwich things. Not an egg roll in sight. But as I was slowly closing the fridge door I glanced at some wrapped thing in the back. HAHA! YES! It was an egg roll, stuck in the very back to be lost and forgetten until one day when a future generations would stumble upon it looking for a futuristic snack. But not anymore, this egg roll was mine!

Raging Bowling
| Troy, Summer
Friday was yet another week at an amusement park. This time it was Raging Waters. Once again I had never been to Raging Waters but compared to 6 Flags, I was going to enjoy this more. I mean compared to Six Flags, going on these water rides was going to be a piece of cake. I mean when's the last time a water ride made you go upside down? :P

I only went on a couple of rides once again (Stupid lines). But the only real "scary" one was The Wedge.

During lunch, we decided to buy a large pizza w/ 4 drinks at about $30. On our way to sit down, some guy ran into Jeanette and got pizza all over her and Fay. And all this guy did was stand there and say, "Oh man that cost $30s" and just stood there the whole time.
Luckily it wasn't all a waste because the manager of the place we bought our pizza gave us a new one for free. When Fay tried asking the guy to help chip in all he did was ignore her and went back to eating his stupid taco. I hate people like that. Never taking responsibility for anything. Arghhhhh

Edit:And then on Sunday James convinced a group of us to go bowling for some fundraiser thing for his sister sorority. Uhm, yeah that's about it. Nothing exciting happened while we bowled.

Rollercoaster Karaoke
| Troy, Summer
Saturday was a hectic and fun day for me. First I had to get up at 9 so I could go with Jeanette and her friends to Six Flags. It was so hot up there, at least 96 degrees. Even with the extreme heat it seemed like there were people willing endure it all to go on the rides.

This was my first time at Six Flags so I had no idea what to expect. The first ride we went on was . Which even for me, was pretty lame. The name was pretty cool though. The next ride for us was Scream!, which they had been promoting on TV and in their Buy 1 get another ticket free with a can of Coke commercial. That by the way is not completely true. You only get a free ticket if it is Sunday or Monday, otherwise you just get 15$ dollars off with the can.

The colors for the ride were very cheesy. I couldn't tell if this was intentional or not. I just hope they had hired blind badgers to do the paint job. They were promoting the ride as having "7 crazy loops." I couldn't tell if there were seven but looking at the ride there was a point where it was both a loop and a corkscrew combined. Serious Whiskey Tango Foxtrot going on.

And although I'd like to talk about everything that happened, I am too tired and I bet it would be plenty boring for you to read. So if you do have any questions, just talk to me. Otherwise, let me just say that we went on 4 rides total. Ninja, Scream!, Colossus and X.

I also got a tan even though I put on sunscreen. Even more annoying was how Jeanette didn't wear any sunscreen and yet she didn't get tanned! >:(

We left a little bit early because of me, or at least that's what it seemed like. Don had wanted to go karaoking at 10 so we left at around 8 or so.

Then I went karaoking for two hours. First it was just Don, Asuka and I but then Lynn, Pranav, Andrew and Christine joined us after they had finished at the ghetto-renovated Griffith Observatory. The place we went to for karaoke had this cheap synthesizer music for the English songs instead of the actual version of the song. Also a lot of the lyrics were wrong so sometimes they wouldn't make any sense. All in all it was a good evening to be had. We got boba afterwards and I was so thirsty/tired from it all when I got back I collapsed on my bed and went to sleep.

Orange County Fair
| Summer
Saturday was one of the funnest days I've had this summer. Jeanette, Fay, their friend Justin and I went to the Orange County fair down in Costa Mesa. First off I had to drive down to Irvine because we were meeting at Jeanette's house. Technically we were suppose to go at 3:30 or so but Fay and Justin decided that they were going to come at 6. So to pass the time away I watched The 5th Element while Jeanette took a nap for an hour. Fay and Justin eventually got here so we ate dinner at the apartment before heading out.

After a crazy shuttle ride we ended up at the fair at around 7:30. We paid the seven bucks to get in. Then we all chipped in and bought god knows how many tickets for the rides that they had. The first ride we went on was The Bathroom. The line for that ride wasn't too long, it just smelled a lot. Funny thing that happened while I was in there; a little boy kept complaining about the water temp. of the faucet and the poor adult who was watching him had to change it everytime the little boy complained. First it was too hot, then it was too cold... I never found out if he got the water just right. :(

We look around the fair a little bit and we finally decided to go on our first ride. It was called Tango. I can't really describe it but I found a description of it on a website.

"This ride starts out loading flat and raises to a height of 125 feet right at the start of the ride cycle. The twenty four adventurous riders are spun around on three different axes. The ridecycle runs through a few different patterns, enough to keep it interesting. The restraints are very open and you hope they are locked securely as there is not much betwen you and the open air way above the midway."

I think that is a good description of it. I mean it was scary but more of a thrill kind of scary. I mean rolling backwards while hanging upside-down and spinning clockwise is pretty darn cool. Definitely very fun. We also went on Evolution and Experience(?). Evolution was definitely the scariest. Imagine hanging upside down and only relying on your restraints to keep you from falling. I swear that thing was killer and it lasted for such a long time!

So after Evolution we had to take a big rest. So Justin and Fay got food while Jeanette and I browsed through this bazaar or something where they were trying to sell people (lame) stuff.

After that, we decided to go around and play some of the games. Jeanette wanted to play skiball and it took us like half an hour to find the booth. When we got there Jeanette played it a couple of times but had no luck :( The skiball thing had your basic holes in the center but it also had ones in the top corner worth 100000 points. One can win the top prize by scoring 320,000 points. Needless to say, I totally owned skiball. I threw in three balls into that 100000 point hole and I won a really cool stuffed alligator.

After riding Experience it was already 12 so we headed back to the bus and went back to Jeanette's apartment. Fay and Justin left because Justin felt kinda queasy and Fay had to leave. I stayed and watched Training Day with Jeanette until 3AM! Yeesh but at least the freeways were nearly empty by then. 100MPH anyone, hmmmm???

Hey what is going on in this post?
| Troy, Summer
I haven't updated in a while, mainly because everytime I try to write something it doesn't work out. I wish I was a better writer because I can think of what I want to write but when I try to put it down in words it doesn't seem to come out right.

I also get tired of just writing out what I did. It seems like this journal now is more for posterity and a record of what I've done rather than what it should have been originally.

Last Friday we finally went ice skating after our failed attempt the previous week. This time we went to Glacial Gardens. I must say that even though the place has some flaws, I think it is better than Disney Ice. For one thing, they actually had skates that matched your shoe size. When I went to Disney Ice they didn't have half-sizes so I had to go for size 10. Then I try putting them on and they're very loose. So I had to go down a size further to 9s. At Glacial Gardens not only was their properly fitted skates they also had half-sizes. The skating was a lot of fun because I could actually move a lot better although I think I skated a little better when I went to Disney Ice (at least initially). One thing that was kinda weird was they had some DJ playing songs and they turned off most of the lights except for a disco ball. Why would you lower the lights in a skating rink? Doesn't that increase the chance of people (me) falling? :(

Saturday was Mike's B-Day Party thing at BJs. I was suprised to see so many people actually show up at one time. I mean Tejas was there (almost) on time! I need to get some webspace from Yahoo or whatever so I can upload some pics.

What have I been doing lately? Nothing much. All I've been doing is watching Azumanga Daioh and playing Day of Defeat. Azumanga Daioh is such a cute anime. Haha I laugh everytime something bad happens to Chiyo-Chan cause they do it in such a cute way.

I am glad I am tall.
| Summer
I helped Jeanette move into her apartment in Irvine yesterday. When we finally finished moving all the stuff in and assembling her computer desk it was already 10 or so.

We then headed out to In'n'Out to eat because we couldn't decide on where to go. She insisted on paying for me but I snuck money into her purse while she was gone.

Something we talked about was height, because Jeanette's pretty tall for an asian gal. I guess in general it is good to be tall... if you're a guy. If you're a girl and you're tall, then you have a problem if everyone else is much shorter than you.

I didn't screw up...
| Summer, CA
So I went ice skating yesterday with some CA people. First let me say, skating shoes are a bitch to put on.

I asked for a size 10 shoe first and tried to put those on but there was so much space in them. I think I wear like a 10.5/11 shoe and this thing had at least a good centimeter of space left after I put my foot in it.

So I go back and get a size 9. I guess I can't tie skate shoes real well or what because it literally took me four tries to get these skates on w/ a decent enough tightness where I wouldn't be skating awkwardly.

But skating was fun even though I didn't move that much. I basically skated around the whole edge of the rink as best as I could. It was kind of difficult because my laces weren't as tight as they should be so a lot of the time I had to readjust my feet to make them straight. I had the good fortune of not falling although there was plenty of comedic, "flailing arms to keep balance" comedy. Luckily not too many people saw that. Also there were lots of friendly people around to help give me tips or to push me

And then afterwards all the remaining CA people eventually found their way to Jeanette's house. Haha it was cool cause she made food for us! And also she kept getting food for all of us. I think she was planning on fattening us up and eating us.. Haha. I mean. uhh? what?

I also just had my phone interview. I'm not sure how well I did. I got kinda nervous and stuff but they're suppose to give me a call back in 3-5 days if I got the job, so hopefully... yeah....

I was suppose to have posted this yesterday (July 2nd) but unforunately I didn't get back until now! I gotta get ready for a phone interview tomorrow so I'll write about what I was going to after that. And also maybe, change the date of this post to July 2nd...

Date did not mysteriously change... It was all a dream to you guys

Another catchphrase in the bag
| Troy, Summer, Quotes, Humor
Wednesday night, Erik, Asuka and I went to Don's house on a whim. I wasn't sure what we were going to do there but I figured that we could make fun of Don for two hours and that would be that. Instead what we got was a rush of random High School and even Jr. High memories. "Hey that person..." and "You remember that one time..." were certainly blurted out several times throughout the night before Don had to kick us out at like 12:30AM. We had literally blown the whole night away and not made a crack at Don. (Or did we?)

Then on Friday I went to see Charlie's Angels. 3 hot actresses = good. Hey let's make all the scenes slow-mo = bad.

But anyways the best thing about Friday was going to In'n'Out afterwards. We were all eating and I was trying to say something about... 28 Days Later or The Pianist or something and then all of a sudden Michelle interrupts me mid-sentence to say.
Wow, this boba is really good
Cause you see, she bought boba at Tapioca Express before coming to In'n'Out and the boba was really good. So she had to announce it to everyone.

Now I can't really describe what happened, but Mark was there. And I swear to god Michelle is the greatest diss machine ever. Saying such simple words somehow resulted into this incredible zing. "This boba is really good" say it again, "This boba is really good"; and again, "This boba is really good"

I was hardcore pwned by Michelle ;-(

Yeah so I think that the phrase, "This boba is really good" should enter the English Dictionary as an interjection. Here is the entry.
This boba is really good (this boba iz ree'lee good) Interj. 1. Phrase used to undermine another person's conversation in a harsh and subtle manner.
[2003 GR>VT]
Yes so from now on, to interrupt someone's conversation just asy, "Hey this boba is really good!"

The Incredible Hulk Review.
| Movies, Summer
Now before I review
The Hulk

by Ang Lee let me talk about what I did yesterday.

I watched some movies, Antwone Fisher and 28 Days to be exact, with Jeanette and her friends. We were suppose to go bowling but that didn't work 'cause we didn't get enough people. I wanted to bowl :(

Okay but back to The Hulk. I cannot review the Hulk fairly. Why not? (No spoiler until the Spoiler text).
Because parents who have toddlers decide, "Hey, let's go watch The Hulk, even though it is rated PG-13, I'm sure our kids would love to come watch it with us (read: I want to go watch it and I don't want to pay for a babysitter) even though the main character is a big green ANGRY "monster".

If you're a parent with a very young kid who will uncontrollably scream, cry or make any kind of other noise, you probably shouldn't be going to a movie. Basically if you have a child, you lose all right you have to watch a movie unless (1) the movie is rated G, (2) you hire a babysitter and keep your damn kid at home or (3) you watch it at home. God it was so fucking annoying. First off, all these families have 5 kids. How they can afford that is beyond me. I didn't have any problems with people that were like 6 or older, but it seemed like every single family in there had at least one baby/toddler.

I didn't even know that The Hulk was being promoted as some sort of family flick. I don't recall Blade, X2, Spider Man or Daredevil being marketed as a family movie. And for godsakes The Hulk is one you would bring the family to as a "family movie" ITS THE FUCKING HULK GODDAMMIT. HE'S GODDAMN ANGRY. ANGRY I TELL YOU!

UGH, goddamn stupid families bring their babies with them. I cannot stand babies crying in a movie theatre, I totally lose concentration of any dialogue;basically anything else past SMASHY SMASHY type action I cannot focus when theres a baby crying.

So, annoying baby #1, who cried loud enough to drown out the movie. What pissed me off about this baby was his/her parent. They would not take their goddamn baby out of there. Which brings me to an addendum to the rules about small kids and theatres. If you're going to be so inconsiderate as to bring your baby along, be considerate enough to take your baby out of the goddamn theatre when it's crying it's head off! Goddamn this baby was literally crying for 5 minutes with people telling them to take their baby out. What the hell is wrong with these people. WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN??? PLEASE!

And then there was... the other baby. This baby was crying as well. But during the very loud sequences, you could not hear the wailing. Fast forward to dialogue parts. BOOM, goddamn baby crying.

And then the rest of the kids are moving around the theatre during the movie. WTF? STOP CLIMBING UP AND DOWN THE STAIRS!!

SPOILERS: So this couple with the fact that I was very tired made watching this movie a very very grueling experience. I didn't like the movie too much. The CGI was at times great, pathetic looking in others. The Wipes/Split Screen/Comic Book effects were great but made it kind of hard to focus. I enjoyed the one where there's an explosion and the guy gets thrown comic book style. The story... again I couldn't concentrate, so many goddamn babies. I will leave the story alone b/c I'm not sure if it was good or not. The ending... terrible, WTF was all that "Hey I'm Nick Nolte, watch me become some random villan that shows up in the last 10 minutes" and "Hey Bruce Banner somehow made it into the Columbian jungles"

Arg, I'm so mad. So... Angry...

So last night 6 guys and 4 gals had teh hunt thru teh Brea Mall planned by the so-called Masterminds. Team Shuan, Mark, Eileen, Malcolm and Sherry (Jun) beat out Team (Losar!) Jimmy, Mike (Chen), Don, Lynn and Esther (Nguonly). It was great fun for all, I had a headache, Sherry called me handicapped, and the other team used their feminine powers. We nearly had to end it 'cause the stupid Brea Mall Po were like, "You guys cannot have this scavenger hunt, this is illegal, you better call your other friends over." Haha, that security officer was dumb. I don't see the inherent danger that a scavenger hunt has on the general population of the mall or us. They just didn't want to deal with us because we were probably trouble making kids.
