The Saddest Thing

Yesterday I went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory in Brea. Since there was such a huge wait to get seated, Pranav, Don, Anu and I went into the Brea Mall to look around while we waited. Apparently the mall closes at around 7:00PM now which was weird because it was Saturday. When we passed by the Disney store we saw all these little kids peeking into the Disney store and they just seemed so depressed. I'm thinking that they must have driven over in their car expecting to be able to visit the Disney store (because what else can a little kid do at the mall?) only to see it be closed when they get there. So sad.
Saturday: Mark's Party.
Sunday: CACN Dance Practice
Tuesday: Final
Wednesday: Final

TRAPPED IN COSTA MESA. SEND HELP!
So I guess there's nothing to do but update both of my blogs.
I went to Fullerton on Tuesday because some old high school friends wanted to eat at Waco's Tacos, which turned out to actually be Rockin Tacos, for dinner. We didn't stay long enough to be in any of the pictures that they take every night. Afterwards we went to a Starbucks and just chatted until midnight. It just made me realize how much I need to get out of the state of California, no matter how much I love it, just so I can experience new things. All their talk about iBanking and what not flew right over my head. I also realized that ever since they left Troy, a lot of the girls have been getting their freak on. Haha.
Around 12 the Starbucks closed so I had to get back to Irvine. I lived about 10 minutes away from the Starbucks and I actually got off the freeway to go home but I decided against it thinking, "The rain doesn't seem too bad, I'll just chance it."
BIG MISTAKE!
This was probably the worst driving experience I've encountered. Not being able to see 5 feet in front of you, having water move your car around like it was a small pebble, and having lights on your dashboard turn on that I've never seen in the two years I've driven the car. All very scary, I thought I was going to bite the big one and die right there. I mean of all places to die I don't really want to die on the 55 Freeway. Driving onto the 73 was just as bad though, right when I got off the connector from the 55 to the 73 I literally had to stop my car because there was zero visibility. I eventually made it back but I had to drive on the left side of Bison into CV because the right side was so flooded.
Update: 1/2: On Wednesday I went to the ARC with Julie and Ali and met up wtih Roo, Le, and Both Davids. Since it was the twin's birthday we decided to go out to eat to celebrate by going to Kabuki's in Cerritos. We were gonna go to Guppys afterwards but the twins needed to go back to UCI so maybe another time for that.
Thursday: Hung out with more Troy people again. We went to go eat at the Pho place near AMC 20 and then we went to Jack In The Box so I could get my fry fix. Then we met up with John Carroll at Tea Zone and then I went home
Friday: New Years at Mark's. Michelle rotates the wrong way to pop open the streamers, Silly String Fight and No Dennys this time.
Year In Pictures 2004
Thursday: Ate Thanksgiving dinner with the family, then stayed up all night and left at 4AM to goto Best Buy for Black Friday.
Friday Morning: Asuka was nice enough to tag along with me and wait it out but I'm pretty sure she regretted it because even before we got into the store she wanted to leave. Haha TOO BAD.. :/ I got a hard drive and a couple of DVDs. Some Asian family had 5 hard drives which had rebates limited to one household.
Friday Night: There was a lot of confusion about where and when this place was, I tried to call everyone and get it all organized but unfortunately I had very limited amount of time to do it. I'm sorry if I forgot to invite you or if you couldn't make it for one reason or another but I tried my best and it's very hard to remember everyone especially when they never ever ever talk to you even though you spend your whole time on AIM just waiting for that person to IM you and say "hi" or even just sign on AIM.
They also decided to prank me by telling the Buca employees that it was my birthday and as a result I got four waitresses to dance, sing and shake their boobies in front of me. The two in the middle were the best ones out of the group although I might have to reconsider it if I can get a picture from someone. Afterwards we went to Heroes briefly to have a couple of drinks. Then we went over to Don's house to play some Poker which I ended up losing in the end because Mike Chen is a stinkin' cheater.
Saturday: Went with family up to Palm Springs. We were going to goto Cabazon but we couldn't find parking even after an hour so we just left to go gambling. We decided to go eat and we saw a Burger King so we exited only to find out that this was the place where they filmed that scene in that Peewee movie where he's in the T-Rex. So my sisters and I took pictures with the T-Rex and the Brachiosaurus that was there
.
After that we drove to the Casino, it was called Aqua something. I decided to play Blackjack even though my previous outing wasn't so good. But I ended up winning $20 even though I was up by about $70 or so at one point. Stupid hustler dealer screwing me out of good cards at the end
Also Troy people: Please post pics of the waitresses at Buca's, thanks.

UCI started on Friday which meant that Summer has officialy ended. For Dinner on Thursday I went with Erik and Steve to Pat and Oscar's. We reminisced about the good ol dorm days... which weren't really that good 'ol for me except for a couple of great moments. After we ate I went with Sam to go watch Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence. God what a beautiful movie but tries way too much "trying to be smart and quote philosophers" and not enough action sequences. But very visually stunning and a decent flick.
Friday. All my classes went okay, I'm dropping 183 Graphics Programming because the professor is crazy. She wants the class to complete 4 programs, 4 written assignments, a written final and project final. On top of that she wants us to learn OpenGL on our own time. Since I don't really need that class to graduate I'm just going to drop it.
Friday was also Staceys birthday party at the Old Spaghetti Factory. There were lots of people there and I'm surprised that they actually managed to fit everyone in.
Saturday. Went to Don's house to watch the USC vs. Stanford game. Stanford was winning at half time and Don, the only person who went to USC out of Pranav, him and I, almost gave up all hope of USC winning. But they ended up stopping Stanford's offense in the 2nd half and they won the game. So afterwards we chided Don for not having more faith in his own school. I guess it's easy being so calm since UCI's football team is undefeated and all but Don had nothing to worry about. Later that night we played Poker with a 1 dollar buy in. I thought I played well until I played a big hand not realizing I didn't have a straight when I thought I did. So next time I'll win for sure...
Well that's it. Tomorrow's Monday and the official "First Week" of class. I guess we'll see what happens.

Friday I drove up to Las Vegas with some of my old high school friends and other related. James, Victor, Pranav, Malcolm, Jon, Amy and Amy's sister Jessica and I stayed until Sunday morning at the Imperial. All I can say was that it was a blast. Chatting on the drive up, seeing what probably amounts to the hottest asian call girl ever, losing $25 on the first night to stupid slots
, watching the olympics and whatever Arnold movie was on, random elevator occurences ("That girl was 'HOT'" and "We ain't letting anyone else on this elevator, it's full... Oh hey ladies there's plenty of room
), walking to and fro from McDonalds and having a Mexican lady in a shirt that said "Stripper" try and give you stripper-style baseball cards and whatnot.
Oh yeah. and also winning $215 from $40 playing blackjack
. Because of that my trip up there was basically free + I bought some clothes at the outlet on the border.

I just want to thank everyone who came to my little party tonight. I'm really drunk right now so yeah I'm drunk.
Thank you Christine, Jiner, Pranav, Mark, Erik and Asuka for taking me two the two places. That first one at Diamond Plaza and Banana Bay. I'm so freaking buzzed right now.
Anyways. Thank you everyone else who came, Erik, Pranav, Mark, Asuka, Akash, Frances, Christina, Andrew, Don, Christine, Jen Law (yea! the only one from CA), Jiner and whoever else I'll remember in the morning. Wow. I had too many drinks to write coherently. I had what they called a 3 wise men (double shot) and a stop light. I also had a liquid cocaine so as I'm writing this I am freaking buzzed. Okay more tomorrow when I get sober.

I had this long thing about my locker from High School except I accidently closed the window.
Let me just say, my locker was my locker. From my four years there no one else used that locker but me. So when I closed that locker for the last time my Senior year I wondered, which Freshmen is going to inherit my locker next year? Will that Freshmen think and wonder about it's previous owner? Probably not. Just like me, the thought of it never really came up until it was pointless because the locker wasn't mine to call mine anymore. So now that it's been another four years. That locker is going to get a new owner within a year and maybe the current owner will be thinking, "who had this locker before me?" But probably not.
So why am I reminiscing about a stupid locker or is this some stupid metaphor or maybe its just because its me writing at 4:30 AM in the morning now even though I started this at 4 only to have to write it again fifteen minutes later.
I guess it's just like 4 years ago all over again. I'm heading into my 4th and final year at UCI, I feel like I've accomplished nothing and I'll probably end up feeling nostalgic about some other stupid inanimate object. I just hope it starts out like my senior year of HS but doesn't end like it did.
Night.

Don's 21st Birthday
Posted 2004-04-03 06:10:21 AM | Troy
Yesterday. Don, Pranav, James, Amy and I went to Cabazon to go do some gambling. Apparently it's 18 and over so we were all able to gamble. I tried the nickel slots but didn't fair so well. THOSE THINGS ARE RIGGED I TELL YOU!
Anyways later on James and Don went to go play some Texas Hold 'Em. James ended up winning $80 from the $20 he started from. Don, lost.
But that was not the end of it! James let Amy use 20 dollars of his chips and she began playing. She ended up winning 57 dollars! The best part was that Amy messed up a couple of times during her span of playing so one of the guys thought she was a complete dunce. So he put in all his money in this one hand where all he had was a pair while she had a full house. Completely surprised the guy and he left to go play at another table. One of those you had to be there moments I guess.
Anyways, Happy Birthday to Don!

I know Mr. Knox would be proud.
And to make this post not completely worthless
I had this dream a week ago about an old crush. I forgot what the situation was... I think we were listening to some "phat beats yo" and then all of a sudden the DJ played a slow song and then I started to dance with her only after about 10 seconds (dream time is fast) she kind of pushes away from me and says something about being too hot.
And then Ninja Pirates came flying down so I was too busy defending myself to figure out what went wrong. But WTF how do you get rejected in your own dream.

Last Thursday was Guys Night Out Night at Hooters + some pool hall.
Rewind to last Friday where I went to go see the premiere of Red Trousers over at the Independent Edwards near UCI. There was a taiko drums and a Wushu performance. Robin Shou (AKA LIU KANG) showed up briefly to introduce them but apparently left right after everyone went into the theater. Also on hand was Hakim Alston and Keith Cooke (SUBZERO). Keith was the only one who actually stayed after the first showing.
The movie itself was okay, the part about the stuntmen was awesome because you see them take these crazy tumbles and then get right back up again (well except for that one guy). They also had some small movie in it called Lost In Time which was some cut/cancelled project from 3 years ago. It made no sense and kinda detracted from the overall experience. But it was still enjoyable just for the stuntment part.
Sunday after practice the group went to Hooters 'cause Sam won this VIP All-You-Can-Eat Chicken Wing deal. So the 10 lucky people (actually 11) went to go eat. We ended up polishing off 230+ chicken wings/legs during which we pondered whether or not they had to kill about 50 chicken or whether they grew chicken that had 4 wings and 4 legs. Haha man soo full from that. I think I actually gained weight because of that dinner.

Last Friday (Feb 27th), Erik, Jeff, Gerald, John Paul and Maya played in the ASUCI talent show as Dash Rend Band. While they played superbly, they sadly did not get any prize money. There were lots of really good acts and a big crowd came to watch. For some reason there was a boat-load of Troy people there for one reason or another. From my count (other than Troy alumni on stage), there was Katherine, Pranav, Josh and myself (who already goto UCI), then there was also Michelle, Sam Brumley, Nathalie and OF COURSE ESTHER! NO ONE WOULD FORGET ESTHER! Very odd indeed. I have no pictures from the show but I did get their performance plus CADC's performance on tape, so hopefully I can get that transferred into a digital format.
The following day was CHF which is where all the UC Chinese clubs (from Santa Barbara on down) + USC's Chinese club get together to have fun and watch the dance groups perform. Lots of cute girls there and the performances were great. Good job to the board for putting it together. I have my pictures up here and the CAUCI website also has tons more pics (800+ from what Victor told me).
And right now I just got back from watching 21 Grams staring Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Naomi Watts. It was a good movie although it was hard to follow at the beginning because it kept jumping around back and forth through different times in the movie. There was this one annoying guy in the hall that kept laughing at scenes that were funny at all or kept saying, "Oh shit" randomly. He left pretty quick after the movie ended so I'm guessing he just wanted to be a jackass and to get attention.

A few years ago in high school, I had the opportunity to observe a guy get turned down by a girl. This is nothing unusual, hell I'm usually the guy that's being turned down. But in this case, I was observing it as it happened.
I'm kind of building up something that's not really worth building up. The gist of it was this. The guy, who I know liked her, started talking to her and asking her casually random "how are you doing" style questions and then told her, "Yeah hey I think I saw you at the mall." To which the girl replied, "Oh, really?" and then just kind of stared off in silence.
At this point I think is where I excused myself to do something else in a, "Wow this is awkward I'm gonna try and leave without being noticed" style that we're all accustomed to from watching The Family Guy. Anything at the time was better than the awkward moment forming in front of me.
I don't even know where I was going with this, maybe that girls are insanely vague about when they're interested or not in a guy. The guy's thinking at this point, "Oh shi I've been busted" while the girl, from anyone's guess, is thinking, "OMG he saw me at the mall that day? I had a big zit that day!" or "Oh dear lord this guy likes me."
Okay sorry, I really don't know where I'm going with this. I guess this is just some anecdote that you can talk about when you're with friends.

Friday was Amy's birthday, Pranav and I got her the Lion King DVD and one of those kodak mini sticky picture cameras. She liked both gifts... or so she says!
Anyways I got a haircut on Sunday so before the dinner party I was trying to decide whether or not to wearmy beanie to hide my messy hair to which I finally decided to screw it and just go without a beanie. The entire week I had gone wearing that beanie everytime I went to class to the point of it getting very annoying. If Nature wants to pick a week to make Southern California very nice and warm it would have been this past week. Unfortunately wearing a wool beanie tends to make your head very hot.
That's it. I'll have pictures up later maybe. I'm all ready behind in classes :(

Jane came to visit today. Well actually not until the later half of the day. I was stuck in classes from 8:30 to 1 because I'm taking some University Study courses for fun. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the classes though.
Anyways I was playing Madden today playing as the Packers and suffered my first real loss in 2004. In Madden 2004, if you don't know what play to choose, you can have Madden suggest a play instead. In the 2003 version this was done pretty well. Like if they had two wide recievers he would suggest plays that involve only two cornerbacks. But suddenly this year I guess they actually decided to model the real John Madden because the plays he suggests are really really dumb. For example, if the computer goes with three wide recievers he rarely ever tells you to go to the nickel defense (which has 3 cornerbacks). Instead he tells you to safety blitz with a 4-3 package. This means a linebacker gets to defend a wide reciever.
Another problem with it. Fumbles. I have never seen more opportune times for me to fumble then when the computer needed one the most. On drives where I'm about to close them out or come back to tie the score they ALWAYS cause me to fumble!
Yeah anyways so Jane had fun laughing at me because she said she made the Chargers beat me :(

I haven't updated much since New Years, in fact I wrote very little for New Years.
To summarize:
I spent my New Years' Eve afternoon trying to help setup Anu's wireless Internet connection mainly because I wanted to know how to setup a wireless network. I spent most of that time trying to get through all the clutter that their family had accumulated on their computers (spyware, unneeded software). When I finally finished with that and had the Wireless Network set up, the laptop I was using to test it refused to talk to the access point.
By this time it was pretty late so I left Anu's and I ate with Esther, Erik, "Josie", and Helen. Now there were others there too, some I have not seen at all since graduation and some I have never seen before even though they were all from Troy. Now of course there was Liz, who I actually got to see in person for the first time in a while, Kelly Anderson, who forgot who I was even though I managed to remember hers *shrug*, and Adam Weiner, who completely ignored me. So yeah basically it was kind of weird. Nothing bad, just different.
Before the dinner, Tejas had invited us to his house for New Years. Let me just say his house was one of the largest I've been in. I mean we drove into this small little inlay street which led to this huge dip and the front of his house looked pretty nice but hid the size of his house. Hell there was a sauna in there! Anyways, we played XBox until the countdown, then went back to playing more games and then most of us went back to Anu's house because she had offered to make us pancakes. So we drive over there, which consisted of me getting lost because not only did Tejas have a large house, he had a large house in the hills that requires you to memorize 20 street directions.... AT NIGHT! So even though I exited from the 91 to get to his house, I somehow end up on the 55 (near the 91) to leave his block.
We get to Anu's house and there's more people I haven't seen in a while but I'm too focused on the wireless network. I spend about half and hour trying to work on it and talking to Akash over the phone and what ends up happening? I don't know, the goddamn thing just started working. I don't really know what solved the problem but I guess calling Akash worked....
I'm out of time so I'll finish this up on Monday or so.

Year In Pictures 2003
Friday was the 3rd annual THS 2001 Thanksgiving thing'of'a'ma'bobber dinner held at Buca Di Beppo's.
Our waiter was pretty cool, one of the waitresses spilled iced tea on Andrew and uhm yeah.
Well it is late so I will update this in the morning. Send me the pictures from the event. I was too busy stressing out to remember to take any pictures.
Update: 12/03
I'm a little late getting this update because I have been a little bit busy and I really don't know how to word this.
Over the past three years, I've been somewhat involved somehow in all of our get togethers whether it is helping out the planners (read: Don and James) or just going to them. This Thanksgiving dinner was the first thing I actually was heading as one of the main planners, unless you count getting together for the LOTR movies, which I will talk about later.
Let me tell you this is not an easy job, not that figuring out what to do was a real problem. The problem is basically just getting people to confirm whether or not they're coming in the first place. For many people they do not know what they are planning to do over the break so for a lot of people it is uncertain. The fact that I had to shift the time up two hours did not help things as I believe 2 people could not make the earlier timeslot.
Considering who goes to these things is a headache to. People seem offended if they are not invited, and I understand that. But understand that since this is a dinner I cannot invite every single person I know. It's not easy figuring out who comes and who doesn't. Sorry if I didn't invite you but that's just how it is. I tried to invite people who would want to come and talk with the other people. And for the most part I only invited those who I had talked at least within the past six months.
I was going to write more but I'm tired of thinking about this subject. Thanks for everyone who decided to come and sent e-mails to me afterwards. And thanks to Erik and Pranav for helping me out with planning this event.

Apparently I'm part of Jane's Harem even though I never filled out the application to be one. Also I posted the picture (from Jane's private collection, a collection of her harem nude!) because this is the only one I have from that day. My parents camera ran out of batteries and apparently no one wanted to take a picture with me :(
Friday was yet another week at an amusement park. This time it was Raging Waters. Once again I had never been to Raging Waters but compared to 6 Flags, I was going to enjoy this more. I mean compared to Six Flags, going on these water rides was going to be a piece of cake. I mean when's the last time a water ride made you go upside down? :P
I only went on a couple of rides once again (Stupid lines). But the only real "scary" one was The Wedge.
During lunch, we decided to buy a large pizza w/ 4 drinks at about $30. On our way to sit down, some guy ran into Jeanette and got pizza all over her and Fay. And all this guy did was stand there and say, "Oh man that cost $30s" and just stood there the whole time.
Luckily it wasn't all a waste because the manager of the place we bought our pizza gave us a new one for free. When Fay tried asking the guy to help chip in all he did was ignore her and went back to eating his stupid taco. I hate people like that. Never taking responsibility for anything. Arghhhhh
Edit:And then on Sunday James convinced a group of us to go bowling for some fundraiser thing for his sister sorority. Uhm, yeah that's about it. Nothing exciting happened while we bowled.

Saturday was a hectic and fun day for me. First I had to get up at 9 so I could go with Jeanette and her friends to Six Flags. It was so hot up there, at least 96 degrees. Even with the extreme heat it seemed like there were people willing endure it all to go on the rides.
This was my first time at Six Flags so I had no idea what to expect. The first ride we went on was
. Which even for me, was pretty lame. The name was pretty cool though. The next ride for us was Scream!, which they had been promoting on TV and in their Buy 1 get another ticket free with a can of Coke commercial. That by the way is not completely true. You only get a free ticket if it is Sunday or Monday, otherwise you just get 15$ dollars off with the can.
The colors for the ride were very cheesy. I couldn't tell if this was intentional or not. I just hope they had hired blind badgers to do the paint job. They were promoting the ride as having "7 crazy loops." I couldn't tell if there were seven but looking at the ride there was a point where it was both a loop and a corkscrew combined. Serious Whiskey Tango Foxtrot going on.
And although I'd like to talk about everything that happened, I am too tired and I bet it would be plenty boring for you to read. So if you do have any questions, just talk to me. Otherwise, let me just say that we went on 4 rides total. Ninja, Scream!, Colossus and X.
I also got a tan even though I put on sunscreen. Even more annoying was how Jeanette didn't wear any sunscreen and yet she didn't get tanned! >:(
We left a little bit early because of me, or at least that's what it seemed like. Don had wanted to go karaoking at 10 so we left at around 8 or so.
Then I went karaoking for two hours. First it was just Don, Asuka and I but then Lynn, Pranav, Andrew and Christine joined us after they had finished at the ghetto-renovated Griffith Observatory. The place we went to for karaoke had this cheap synthesizer music for the English songs instead of the actual version of the song. Also a lot of the lyrics were wrong so sometimes they wouldn't make any sense. All in all it was a good evening to be had. We got boba afterwards and I was so thirsty/tired from it all when I got back I collapsed on my bed and went to sleep.

I haven't updated in a while, mainly because everytime I try to write something it doesn't work out. I wish I was a better writer because I can think of what I want to write but when I try to put it down in words it doesn't seem to come out right.
I also get tired of just writing out what I did. It seems like this journal now is more for posterity and a record of what I've done rather than what it should have been originally.
Last Friday we finally went ice skating after our failed attempt the previous week. This time we went to Glacial Gardens. I must say that even though the place has some flaws, I think it is better than Disney Ice. For one thing, they actually had skates that matched your shoe size. When I went to Disney Ice they didn't have half-sizes so I had to go for size 10. Then I try putting them on and they're very loose. So I had to go down a size further to 9s. At Glacial Gardens not only was their properly fitted skates they also had half-sizes. The skating was a lot of fun because I could actually move a lot better although I think I skated a little better when I went to Disney Ice (at least initially). One thing that was kinda weird was they had some DJ playing songs and they turned off most of the lights except for a disco ball. Why would you lower the lights in a skating rink? Doesn't that increase the chance of people (me) falling? :(
Saturday was Mike's B-Day Party thing at BJs. I was suprised to see so many people actually show up at one time. I mean Tejas was there (almost) on time! I need to get some webspace from Yahoo or whatever so I can upload some pics.
What have I been doing lately? Nothing much. All I've been doing is watching Azumanga Daioh and playing Day of Defeat. Azumanga Daioh is such a cute anime. Haha I laugh everytime something bad happens to Chiyo-Chan cause they do it in such a cute way.

Michelle likes to play Spoons but with a twist. Winner gets to spank the Loser.
Also Michelle likes to lie and delete pictures from my camera

Wednesday night, Erik, Asuka and I went to Don's house on a whim. I wasn't sure what we were going to do there but I figured that we could make fun of Don for two hours and that would be that. Instead what we got was a rush of random High School and even Jr. High memories. "Hey that person..." and "You remember that one time..." were certainly blurted out several times throughout the night before Don had to kick us out at like 12:30AM. We had literally blown the whole night away and not made a crack at Don. (Or did we?)
Then on Friday I went to see Charlie's Angels. 3 hot actresses = good. Hey let's make all the scenes slow-mo = bad.
But anyways the best thing about Friday was going to In'n'Out afterwards. We were all eating and I was trying to say something about... 28 Days Later or The Pianist or something and then all of a sudden Michelle interrupts me mid-sentence to say.
Now I can't really describe what happened, but Mark was there. And I swear to god Michelle is the greatest diss machine ever. Saying such simple words somehow resulted into this incredible zing. "This boba is really good" say it again, "This boba is really good"; and again, "This boba is really good"
I was hardcore pwned by Michelle ;-(
Yeah so I think that the phrase, "This boba is really good" should enter the English Dictionary as an interjection. Here is the entry.

Wow, this boba is really goodCause you see, she bought boba at Tapioca Express before coming to In'n'Out and the boba was really good. So she had to announce it to everyone.

So last night 6 guys and 4 gals had teh hunt thru teh Brea Mall planned by the so-called Masterminds. Team Shuan, Mark, Eileen, Malcolm and Sherry (Jun) beat out Team (Losar!) Jimmy, Mike (Chen), Don, Lynn and Esther (Nguonly). It was great fun for all, I had a headache, Sherry called me handicapped, and the other team used their feminine powers. We nearly had to end it 'cause the stupid Brea Mall Po were like, "You guys cannot have this scavenger hunt, this is illegal, you better call your other friends over." Haha, that security officer was dumb. I don't see the inherent danger that a scavenger hunt has on the general population of the mall or us. They just didn't want to deal with us because we were probably trouble making kids.
So my cousin graduated from high school on Friday and my sister graduated from college on Sunday. I helped them take a lot of pictures with their friends.
This is in complete contrast to what happened during my graduation. My family stayed outside 'cause they thought that I was going to come out. The whole time though I was waiting inside for them. :(
Yeah so anyone who has a picture w/ me at graduation from two years ago. I MUST HAVE IT!!!
I also decided that I must clean up my room at home. It's been really really dirty for the past year or so. The walls are really icky too. Lots of tape and stuff left over from posters. You know how some calendars and posters have that sticky solid material on the back? The stuff that looks like its a piece of foam only its white and sticky. Well never use those to put stuff on the wall. It fucked up the walls in my room. I think I'm gonig to put up some posters to make it look better.
Another problem is that I'm a huge pack rat. I have all this random shit from Junior High and High School. I just can't seem to bring myself to throw away stuff even if it was like a homework assignment that I got a bad grade on. I need boxes to store these in, place them in an attic and then come back in 5 years and go through the stuff... I kinda have a box like this for all my stuff from senior year of high school. All the stuff I collected from the dances, alot of my ASB gear (well my jumpsuit, visor and sweater), and my notes from my classes. I'm accumulating a lot of stuff from my college days.
I also should probably put up some picture collage like James and Pranav have. But I dunno, I don't like that idea too much because if someone comes over and sees that theres only one picture of them on the wall, they'll probably be wondering why I don't have more pictures of them. I was joking with Pranav the other day about why he only has one picture of me on his wall of friends collage. Of course I was just joking and now that I think about it, I'm glad he only has one picture of me. *Gaydar goes off*

So my second year here at UCI ended, I took my last final today at 8AM and went up to the wire trying to complete it. And now Donny just moved out and went home to attend his sister's graduation... at Troy
Has it really been two years since we've graduated? I still vividly remember the graduation practice and the first bonfire we had. Now two years later it seems as though time flies by so fast yet I feel like I haven't done too much in my college career. But then again I recall feeling somewhat incomplete at the end of my sophmore year at Troy. I think what will really count is what I do with my next two years at UCI. I think Junior/Senior year were the most fun I've had so I'm hoping for a repeat of that. Joining CA this year has me definitely looking forward to next year.
So much has happened this year, which I guess I will write about later on when I have nice long break to write about it. I will be busy until about Sunday or Monday so have fun everyone who is coming back this weekend. Everyone should give me a phone call or IM so we can plan something. We all must hang out sometime, yes?

I've got three finals this upcoming week so it'll be busy busy busy...
Jimmy and Victor came today so we went to eat. I showed them some of the hilarious/awesome videos I've collected over the past year at school. Pablo Francisco & The Family Guy bring back good times.
Later on Saxy Esther and Saxy Helen decided to come visit us which was pretty coal. We went to go eat at Carls. We wanted to goto the fancy one off Campus but it was closed so we went to the one with the smelly bathroom on Culver and Michelson then we came back and hung out for a couple of hours watching TV. Our sofa seats four.
Okay now I gotta prepare for finals. Good luck to everyone... well almost everyone

Last Friday I hung out with some good 'ol high school buddies. I went with Pranav and Maily to go play some pool. Since we had three people at the time we decided to play Cutthroat. But Pranav kept pulling a lot of his OMG BS HAX type shots so I kept losing at the very end. Then Victor, one of teh Berk Boys, decided to join us so we switched to Team 8-Ball. I think we lost one game by default and then another game we lost.
Afterwards we drove over to the Lollicup in Fullerton where we were going to meet up with James. I was fully expecting to meet more high school people because that place seems to beckon former THS alumni. But alas, no one familiar was there when we got there.
I ordered the standard boba with some fried chicken (popcorn-like). And then James showed up. I hadn't seen James in a while even though I've visited USC (and their apartment) a few times but he was hardly ever there because he was always "busy" with his frat
. But yeah it was cool seeing him again. Still same 'ol James. Just crazier. If that's possible...
Here are some pictures...

Then Saturday was the CA Semi-Formal. I wasn't planning to go but I convinced myself to go and have fun even though I don't know too many people. I went to see all the interns who I know, and then Teak, Shaun, Albie and Kat, and then Jeanette and Carolyne. But past that I don't know too many people in CA. I guess that's partially my fault because I'm not usually very vocal among strangers. I guess it's something to work on next year in CA. It wasn't as though I didn't try meeting new people. I went to almost every single event CA held after I joined. I went to CHF, Culture Night, Karaoke, Unity (Club), and All-UC. But I guess the fact that I'm not very outgoing among people I don't know too well (to reiterate what I've already said above). Throughout the year there were a lot of times where it would seem like I knew everyone, then there were would be other times where it was like, "Who the hell is that guy?" Just really awkward situations.
The CA Board though were definitely great. Hell, none of them knew me when I joined and still most of them didn't even know me that well now but they still treated me like a friend. I guess you'll hear that a lot from people in CA and I would have to completely agree with them. They are some of the friendliest people I've met. Especially Teak and Shaun, they were the ones who always talked to me at the beginning of the meetings when I didn't know anyone at all. Also Kuo and his girlfriend Sue (is it Sue? I'm pretty sure it is, I hope I didn't screw that up), totally fed me when I was starving driving up to CHF. Hell the fact that they let me drive up with them was pretty cool.
And also Vic and Ed, my hallmates from last year. Without them, CA for me would not have been as fun. Also they drove me to stuff
.
And also Sam, apartment mate for next year! The one who always seemed to show up with me to all the events that CA held.
And to everyone else who I met. You guys are all
(I need to get a cool smiley)
Yeah, anyways, CA Semi-Formal. I'm glad I went. Both to see the old board leave and the new board get placed into power. And dancing was pretty fun albeit it was very hot (Cue Nelly plz thx).
And so anyways, here are the pictures.

The old board standing around while Kuo talks smack* about them.
*good stuff

After the dance was over and I was starting up my car, the Jimmy Eat World CD I had in there started to play My Sundown. Talk about relating what I felt about the night into a song. What a coincidence that it came on when it did.

After the dance was over and I was starting up my car, the Jimmy Eat World CD I had in there started to play My Sundown. Talk about relating what I felt about the night into a song. What a coincidence that it came on when it did.
So last night was basically the last night of Spring Break 2003. And you could totally tell by the low turnout of people :P
So I ate with Don and Pranav for lunch because Don came back from USC. He paid me the money he and a few others owed me but I busted back by paying for his lunch, or I think I did. That's like my birthday present or something.
Yet again it is amusing to see our lack of decision making. Pranav, Don and I just stood in the parking lot for nearly 10 minutes before we all forced ourselves over to the sushi place. It was the one off Yorba Linda Blvd and Village Center Drive. It was decent but not really sushi. Over the summer, we needa go eat at those all-you-can-eat sushi places ($20 anyone?).
We talked alot about the current Troy group incarnation. What was great, what wasn't so great. I think we spent the better part of the lunch talking than eating. And it was so hard to get a refill! :(
And then afterwards we went to CyberWorld to play for a bit. Although I haven't played Counter-Strike in the longest time I still did pretty well and it seemed to be funner than it had been before.
Later in the night, Don, Pranav and I planned on going to Fullerton AMC to watch The Core. We only could find Tejas to come along on such short notice but what was amazing was that he got there on time! Well we were running late by about 5 minutes but Tejas was there right after we got there! Incredible! :)
While Don, Pranav and I were walking towards the theater we met Adi, Ziyad and Anuj who had just come out of Chicago. We exchanged a few plesantries and left to go buy our tickets. When Tejas came we told him to go say hi and stuff 'cause you know, everyone wants to know where Tejas is!
Movie-wise we knew The Core wasn't exactly Oscar winning material but we went to see it for laughs. And it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. The acting was so-so but the special effects were great and the dialogue was pretty good. All-in-all a good entertaining flick. I felt kind of sorry for Tejas cause the whole time he was just shaking his head in disbelief at all the scientific foobar they were using.
Yeah so that's it. I'm going back to Irvine in a few hours to start Spring Quarter. I don't know about summer, have to find a job and all but hopefully we can all still hangout.

20, a nice even round number. Half way to 40, quarter of a way to 80.
Today was the second time at a birthday party for Mark. Only this time it wasn't near Diamond Bar, and this time it was without Don and since there was no Don there was no way for us to get lost in Puente Hills and therefore end up ending at Chili's; not that that would have been bad.
Anyways Mark shows up in a blindfold and we all laugh, hahaha... The servers seemed really rude at the beginning just because we needed another table. We ate and chatted for most of the dinner.
Lots of pictures that I wish there was some way to post them on my website.
Afterwards we went to go get boba and then to Pranav's to play some Halo.

Spring Break Bonfire

So yeah beach thing last night.
Edit: Okay okay I should write more but I never really have much to say about these bonfires. Just look at older entries about previous bonfires. I don't say much about them.
What I find interesting is that the majority of people still remain in contact with each other. Or the fact that we still plan these things and people still come to them. That's amazing in itself. I wouldn't have guessed I'd still be interacting with so many people from high school.
Observations:
1. Some of these people are friends for life. Anything short of a cataclysmic meltdown would prevent that from happening.
2. In terms of appearance, everyone seems pretty much the same. I'm not sure in terms of emotional or mental stability but I'm guessing that by our 10 year reunion someone will have become a professional assassin ala Gross Pointe Blank style.
3. Fire burns.
4. Inhailing fumes makes you sneeze black. I mean stop reading if this grosses you out but I swear, today I sneezed and there was what I can only assume was from the fire last night. Yet another thing I brought back from the beach (sand being the other thing)
And then Karaoke afterwards.
Doing karaoke yesterday... I feel very tired now. It seems like I was planning for karaoke, then bonfire/karaoke and then a separate karaoke. Ahh I'm so stressed out about it...

Final Plans

People for karaoking, we're meeting at Jiner's house at 7 or 8 to go eat dinner and then hang out afterwards. If you need directions to Jiner's house, IM her or something cause I don't want to put out her address publically
I just realized how seriously disorganized and chaotic this has become with trying to split up the group into two. There's just too much trouble in figuring out who wants to goto just karaoke, who's going to come in from the bonfire and etc etc. Too many people said, "Oh maybe I'll come" and that response is kinda of hard to figure where a count of people is important. Whereas the beach, if you don't come, no one is freaking out about it like I am going to be if either (1) no one afterwards shows or (2) too many people afterwards show. So the "maybes" for me are not a ideal response when I have to factor in the amount of people for it to work. So rather than going through all that and hoping it all works out I'm going to just move it to
Bio 1B
Well I had planned karaoke but I had not asked everyone yet because of finals week so now most everyone would rather goto the beach so those who want to goto the beach should go to the beach and if I didn't ask you about the karaoke I'm sorry but I was busy with finals and only had asked a few people who had been interested in it before. The only people so far who said they'd rather go to karaoke are.
I will be asking others if they want to go and most people are welcome so whoever wants to come, or more like depending on who comes the room will be about 2-3 dollars and also we'll be eating dinner beforehand. I think. I don't know. Too much stress. Also if no one from semester wants to go then I'm just going to push it back or cancel it altogether.
So I am saying that this invite also goes to people who normally are not at our shindigs: Liz, Ross and Philip.
Sometimes I can think of a great title but not a great writeup. Sometimes I can think of a great writeup but severly lacking in its title.
This time I don't really have either a great title nor a great writeup to follow it. But I felt like writing...

- Why doesn't anyone update with any frequency?
- I joined a club, club Chinese Association
- For joining CA, I went with them to the beach (late night bonfire)
- I saw someone get pants*, and no it was not a girl.
- The Super Bowl is tomorrow and I have yet to mention it until now. Probably because not many of my friends are big football fans. Go Raiders because I want to see Tim Brown win a Super Bowl.
- I thoroughly enjoyed Donnie Darko. I think that it would have made more sense to people if they also introduced the time travel pamphlet they mention in the movie. There's a website for it so if anyone wants the link, just IM me.
- At present I have about 169 people on my buddy list, of which I talk to about 30 on a regular basis and with conversations. Add ten to the total if you count the number of people who only IM me because they want something from me. (When is this essay due? Do you have the problems from two days ago?)
- Erik recently regained his yearbook from an anonymous female and that got me to think about my yearbook and all these people who wrote keep in touch in my yearbook and left their phone numbers and e-mail addresses. I wonder if I should try them and see if they're actually real. Oh yeah and speaking of my yearbook: Ross forgot to sign mine.
- Speaking of which, Liz and Ross are big supporters of this site, yet I never talk to them online.
- Does it make me a phony if I call those numbers, e-mail to those addresses or talk to Liz and/or Ross?
- I mean phony in the sense as in would they think I am like one of those ten people on my buddy list. Someone with a hidden agenda and only IM'ing you now because I want something from you guys. Like maybe I want you guys to switch your phone service from AT&T to MCI.
- But I think I'm worried more about what I would say then worried about being phony. I think a lack of topical conversation is my biggest concern when I talk to people.
- Speaking of which, is my writing terrible? I try to put some sense of humor into my writing but I don't think I'm a terribly great writer. I'd actually prefer to talk to people rather than write to people. Inflection, Intonation and Timing.
- I miss everyone but they're all up north, all the way east or just too busy here with their jobs.
- I feel like one of those people who reminisces too much about high school. But people say that high school is the most exciting period in your life. But that's only if you were some kind of mega-popular captain-of-everything kind of person. High school for me was just too much drama, way more than I bargained for. I think if I ever become a writer (read: UNLIKELY) for some high school tv show then I would have plenty to write about.
- I like UCI, it is a safe environment. But a little too safe. A car can make it more exciting. Car can go far. Car can go far enough to get boba.
It's almost 2:30 in the morning right now but that's okay, I just finished watching Bowling for Columbine which was an interesting movie, but I will talk about it later.
But just something I had been thinking about: Do you remember under what circumstances you became friends with your friends.
I mean if someone were to ask me, "You're friend's with (name)? How'd you meet him?" (For purposes of simplicity, assume him to also possibly mean her) Usually my best response would be something to the effect of, "Oh, I met (name) while I was in 8th grade in my Language Arts class." (Junior High's call English that because language is artistic)
But if someone were to followup with, "That's nice to know what class you had with him, but when did you become friends with him?"
And for me, unless you count remember being introduced to that person, 99 times out of a 100, I wouldn't know.
So is it me, or can people remember at what time where they (as in people, and I understand this is probably really terrible grammar/structure, but then again, I'm not an English major and I suck at English so please correct me) become friends with someone else?
And for those interesting on whether or not if I remember the first time I met them.
Yes: Don, Andrew, Josephine, Jiner, Lynn & Esther, Michelle and... that's about it.
In case you wonder, everyone else is in the NO list.

OMG Why are we at Dennys
Posted 2003-01-03 04:19:02 AM | Troy
Since most of you guys asked me already about how my "first day" at school was, I'll just shutup about it.
A group of us went to go play mini-golf and then Dennys and then home. And then now they are at home and wondering why going to play mini-golf and eat at Dennys takes four hours. Then you realize who you're with and their reputation for being indecisive
Which I guess is half the fun.
